Clergerie opens Madison avenue store

French shoe brand Clergerie has opened a new boutique in New York on Madison Ave. To celebrate the opening, a preview of the SS18 collection designed by new creative director David Tourniaire-Beauciel will debut.

The Madison Avenue location follows the opening of a new concept boutique in Paris in September of last year. Perry Oosting, Chief Executive Officer for Clergerie said, "This second opening is a very significant step for us," noting that "it gives the brand international visibility."

The New York boutique will launch the 901 Collection, this season's line that combines materials such as natural raffia with tech features. A yellow and black colorway will be sold exclusively at the Madison Ave location as well.

The space design for the boutique juxtaposes architectural elements with a warm and modern environment designed to be intimate and comfortable. The floor is a black and white marble chess pattern, while blue couches add a pop of color. The windows are designed to let lots of natural light in and also host animations for upcoming dynamic visual displays.

Clergerie is in the process of overhauling its other global locations to match its new retail concept debuted in NY and Paris. It worked with Milan-based firm Vudafieri Saverino Partners on the space design which is intended to complement the shoes' architectural design style. Plans exist to revitalize the remaining boutiques by the first half of this year.
 
The opening is part of a revamp for the French brand, which relaunched its men’s line in January having dropped the founder’s first name, becoming simply ‘Clergerie,’ alongside a change in creative direction.

Clergerie has 15 boutiques in a global network. Stores are present in London, Geneva and Madrid, along with locations in France and the US. The brand belongs to First Heritage Brands which also owns Delvaux and Sonia Rykiel.
