Chinese label Icicle opens Parisian flagship store on avenue George V

The Icicle fashion group, a well-established, experienced operator on the Chinese luxury ready-to-wear segment, has had ambitious international plans for several years. Icicle’s appetite for expansion beyond China first led to the opening of offices in Paris a few years ago, then to the acquisition of Parisian label Carven one year ago and now finally, after lengthy preparations, to a retail presence in Paris for the group's eponymous luxury label, a major milestone that was achieved on September 16.

The Icicle store on avenue George V in Paris extends across four levels in a historic building - Icicle

On that date, the first flagship store outside China for the mixed-gender luxury ready-to-wear label opened to the public at a prestigious location, 35 avenue Georges V, inside a late-19th century palatial building.

As FashionNetwork.com reported last spring, this is Icicle’s first foray outside China. On its domestic market alone, the label reportedly generates a revenue of nearly €300 million, through a network of over 250 stores.

The building at 35 avenue Georges V underwent lengthy renovation work, eventually yielding a retail area of over 440 m2 with decidedly modern, pared-down interiors designed by Bernard Dubois. According to Icicle, it forms a bridge between China and the West, combining all-white minimalism with charming alcoves, lending the premises a unique feel.

The store carries Icicle’s women's and men’s ready-to-wear lines, its fashion accessories and a more creative line called ‘Atelier’, designed in Paris by a dedicated studio.

The building’s majestic architecture echoes Icicle’s timeless luxe positioning, showcasing a style characterised by finely cut clothes made in sumptuous materials.

It is a hybrid store with a lifestyle feel, within which Icicle, a label with a sustainable approach in synch with nature, offers a range of home decoration products and other objects alongside its fashion collections. Of the building’s four floors, the top floor looks like a culture centre, with over 500 items on display.

Icicle’s Parisian flagship store opened to the public on September 16. Another signature moment for the group, which is also busy on the relaunch of Carven, under the aegis of Daphné Cousineau, appointed general manager of the Parisian label last spring.
