Chanel chooses Edinburgh for its next Métiers d'Art show

Published
Oct 29, 2012

The next Chanel Métiers d'Art catwalk will be held in an undisclosed venue in Edinburgh, Scotland on 4 December. Last year the collection, Paris Bombay, was shown at the Grand Palais in Paris at an invitation-only event. The Métiers d'Art collection gives Chanel a chance to use one pre-collection (for fall-winter) to show off the craft of all its artisan companies grouped under its Paraffection subsidiary. Scottish Barrie Knitwear manufacturer is the latest addition to the Paraffection fold, a move in which Chanel saved nearly 200 jobs in Scotland.

This is the second non-French company "rescued" by Chanel, following its purchase of Italian Roveda, shoe manufacturer for the venerable Parisian house on rue Cambon. The show on 4 December will reveal whether the next Métier d’Art collection will highlight knits and cashmere, signature products of the Scottish manufacturer, which also produces for Hermès.
