Catherine Monier, formerly at Saint Laurent, joins Apple

A new fashion/tech transfer has occurred this summer: Catherine Monier, the former president of Yves Saint Laurent Europe, has switched over the American giant Apple.

As FashionMag revealed last June, Monier left the Kering-owned luxury house in order to pursue other projects.

Highly regarded among its teams, the French luxury retail executive follows in the footsteps of Angela Ahrendts (ex-Burberry), Patrick Pruniaux (formerly Tag Heuer) and Paul Deneve (ex-YSL) in joining Apple.

The American site "9to5Mac”, which focuses on news regarding the legendary computer manufacturer’s products, recently broke the story, citing "internal sources".

Apparently, the Belgian executive Paul Deneve, who has been in charge of “special projects” at Apple since July 2013, was behind the hire.

Monier had taken over at the head of Saint Laurent’s retail business in 2012 after a stint at Celine under Deneve, who has since been succeeded by Francesca Bellettini, who formerly worked at Bottega Veneta. At Apple, Deneve works under CEO Tim Cook.
