CPM opens its doors on Wednesday

Published
Sep 1, 2015

The CPM (Collection Première Moscow), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in a climate of uncertainty, is once again being held on the same dates, or nearly, as Who's Next. The former starts on the 2nd while the latter starts on the 4th, forcing smaller brands to organise themselves as best as possible.

In terms of exhibitors, the Moscow trade fair, organised by Igedo, is bringing together some 1,000 brands, down from the 1,400 it saw last year. The Russian crisis was already being felt in February though, with only a thousand brands represented at the winter edition compared to 1,600 a year earlier. According to the French Institute of Fashion, apparel exports from the European Union to Russia dove 28% in the first half of the year.

But industry players say that it is important to stay faithful to retailers and that the fashion economy will slowly pick back up in Russia.

Above all, the Moscow trade show remains the place to go to export to the world's largest country. Igedo has announced the arrival of an 8th pavilion with South Africa, represented by 17 designers and brands. The biggest pavilions continue to be those of Germany, Italy and France.

The CPM is also celebrating the second edition of Moscow Fashion Lingerie & Swimwear, organised in collaboration with Eurovet. It will feature 70 exhibitors, compared to 40 at the February edition.

The trade show, which is trying to better structure its offer beyond its pavilions, also features the traditional CPM Kids, CPM Premium and CPM accessories.
