Bridal fashion week will return to Barcelona from April 19 to 23. Held in its usual venue at Fira de Barcelona's Montjuïc exhibition centre, the event will bring together more than 300 brands from 30 countries. This will be the fair's first edition under new management, after Albasarí Caro was appointed director of the bridal trade show last September. Caro, who has had extensive experience in the sector and has worked for brands such as Pronovias and Mango, took over from the event's former head, the Italian Estermaria Laruccia.

The event, organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Department of Enterprise and Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has already secured half of its allocated exhibition space. Seventy five per cent of the more than 300 participating brands will come from abroad, mostly from countries such as the USA, France, Italy, Poland and the Netherlands. Among the names confirmed to participate at the fair are: British brand Jenny Packman, Belgian brand Marylise & Rembo, Romanian label Ersa Atelier, American companies Justin Alexander, Demetrios, Allure, Enzoani and Maggie Sottero, Italian brands Carlo Pignatelli, Andrea Sedici and Maison Signore, and Ukrainian labels Eva Lendel and Milla Nova

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week will also count on the participation of established Spanish companies in the bridal sector such as Jesús Peiró, Pronovias, Rosa Clará, Yolancris, Isabel Sanchís, Sophie et Voilà and Marco & María.

Of the confirmed brands for this edition, 35% of them will be participating at the fair for the first time, such as Otaduy from Barcelona, Ogadenia, Lucas Balboa, Pedro Palmas from the Canary Islands, Ines di Santo from Canada, Jolie Bridal from Israel, Bo&Luca from Australia, Joli Poli from Vietnam and Madeline, Jenny Yoo and Colby John from the United States, among others.

Meanwhile, "with the aim of boosting business opportunities for participating brands", the show has launched the "hosted buyers" programme, through which it will directly invite international buyers "with specific investment projects and high purchasing power" from around 70 countries. The bridal event's "key markets" include Europe, USA, Japan, South Korea, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

"In a globalised market, we continue to strengthen our commitment to the international nature of the show that is already a leader in its sector, with the aim of being the best business platform for the bridal fashion industry worldwide," said the event's director.

As in previous editions, the event will host the catwalk shows of more than 35 designer brands from April 19 to 22 as well as a trade show that will run from April 21 to 23.
