Asics EMEA enjoys strong growth year to date

ASICS has seen consolidated net revenue in the EMEA region rising 23% in the year to date, the Japanese sports giant said on Friday.

ASICS

It didn’t give a revenue figure but added that in the period up to September, all distribution channels performed well year-on-year and the region’s operating income “increased significantly” to €111 million.

It also reported 24% year-on-year growth in wholesale channels across EMEA. The company was helped by wholesale rises in Germany (+26%), France (27%), the UK (8%), Italy (49%) and Iberia (42%).

And it also continued to see e-commerce growth, with an increase of 37% versus last year.

Its performance helped it to boost its market share in the five key European markets (the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) with a 7.6 ppt Q3 gain year-on-year in footwear in the ‘Made For and Used For’ Running category above €90. That’s according to the latest NPD data.

It also gained 8.1 ppts for market share in footwear in the ‘Made For and Used For' Tennis category.

ASICS EMEA’s Chief Executive Carsten Unbehaun said: “These results are a testament to the strength of our brand in EMEA. We continue to see unprecedented demand for our products as more and more people choose ASICS as their preferred brand. We see profitable growth across all product categories, from Running to Tennis and across all channels, underlining our positive momentum in the region.”

That said, he added that the “current business environment remains challenging as Covid continues to impact our suppliers”.
