The position left vacant by Giovanni Zoppas since last May has finally been filled. Thélios, an LVMH-owned eyewear company, has announced in a press release the appointment of Alessandro Zanardo as CEO. Zanardo has been working for eyewear giant Luxottica for the past 10 years.

Alessandro Zanardo - Thélios

"The complete acquisition by the group represents a new chapter for Thélios that we are delighted to start under Alessandro's leadership. His leadership skills, forward-looking vision and extensive experience in large organizations will be essential to mantain Thélios’ major player position in the eyewear industry," commented Andrea Guerra, former CEO of Luxottica and current CEO of LVMH Hospitality Excellence, who joined the Thélios executive board in 2021.

LVMH turned its 51% stake in Thélios into a 100% stake last December, almost five years after creating this joint venture together with the Italian eyewear group Marcolin. The appointment of this new CEO marks a new growth phase for the company, which produces the eyewear collections for Celine, Dior, Fendi and Givenchy. The company additionally manufactures for other luxury brands in the group including Loewe, Stella McCartney, Kenzo, Fred, Berluti and Rimowa, as well as its own high-tech eyewear brand, 9.81, which was launched earlier this year.

Alessandro Zanardo holds an MBA in International Economics from SDA Bocconi University and a degree in Economics and Management from the same institution. The executive began his career at Ferrari in 2002. He then joined Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in 2007. In 2010 he joined Luxottica, where until 2021 he held a series of both corporate and marketing positions, such as business development director in Russia, country manager in South Africa and general manager in Brazil.
