Afterpay launches first in-store payment experience inside Revolve NYC pop-up

Australian payment company Afterpay has launched its first U.S. in-store experience inside Revolve's New York City pop-up, allowing customers to use Afterpay's "buy now, pay later" payment plan to purchase items.
Afterpay's system will be available for the entirety of the #Revolvearoundtheworld pop-up's run through October 28. Using the company's digital system, Afterpay claims to offer interest-free installment plans for online and in-store purchases.
As part of its special appearance in Revolve's pop-up shop, the company will offer customers that use its in-store service a ten percent discount on all purchases.
This appearance marks the Australian company's continued growth strategy in the United States. In addition to Revolve, the company has already signed partnerships with more than 1,000 American retailers and brands that will soon appear live on its online platform, including Urban Outfitters and Rebecca Minkoff.
“We are now excited to offer [an] easy, seamless, interest-free installment option to customers in-store at the Revolve pop-up,” said Nick Molnar, CEO and Co-Founder of Afterpay.
“Launching at this store is important to us for two reasons. First, it demonstrates our continued expansion into the U.S. retail market, which has been going extremely well as the U.S. and Australian markets are quite similar. And second, it is further proof that our payment platform, which has been so successful for online purchases, can seamlessly be integrated for in-store purchases as well.”
The two companies have had a relationship since this past July, when Revolve added Afterpay to its payment options. According to the influencer-favorite brand's website, the Afterpay option allows customers to "pay for your purchase over four equal installments, due every two weeks."
The option to use Afterpay is only available for U.S. orders.
“Afterpay’s payment solution has provided our e-commerce customers the ability to purchase products they would otherwise have had to save up for before purchasing,” said Mike Karanikolas, co-CEO and co-founder of Revolve.
“We’re excited to bring this same functionality to our in-store customers at our NYC pop-up shop.”
Afterpay's standard offer allows shoppers to receive products immediately and pay for them in four interest-free installments. The company currently manages relationships with over 17,000 retailers and more than 2.3 million customers, and said it processes "more than 25 percent" of all online fashion and beauty transactions in Australia for brands like Estée Lauder, Lululemon and Stylerunner.
