ASOS appoints new non-exec

Online fashion giant ASOS has appointment Wei Gao as a Non-Executive Director. Wei will join the Board on 1 February 2023 will serve on the Audit committee, among other tasks.

She was previously Chief Operating Officer of online events platform Hopin and brings over 16 years of e-commerce and data experience in senior roles at Amazon. This included roles as Vice President for Grocery Tech, Product and Supply Chain, and as Technical Advisor to the CEO.

ASOS Chairman Jørgen Lindemann said: “Wei joins us with a depth of relevant industry knowledge across international e-commerce. The board will greatly benefit from Wei´s expertise, and we look forward to working closely with her.”

In addition, following previously announced non-exec director changes, the board has also appointed Mai Fyfield Chair of the Remuneration Committee, effective 1 January.

Meanwhile, the search for a new Chief Financial Officer at ASOS continues after Katy Mecklenburgh, its interim CFO, announced earlier this month she will be leaving.

However, Mecklenburgh will continue in her current role at the fashion e-tail giant for the next six months, in line with her notice period.

The process to find a new CFO has been ongoing since former full-time incumbent Mat Dunn — who had also been interim CEO before its new chief executive was appointed — stepped down on 31 October.
