By inviting us to his home studio for his show, in the centre of the Marais area of Paris, Yohji Yamamoto immediately creates a feeling of intimacy, which is felt in each collection. Season after season even if his loose suits, his games between black and white and his deconstructions don’t bring anything new, all of these elements help define a way to see fashion that is both comfortable and recognizable. The designer has, of course, added new things, bringing out an all-over hippy look with jeans, using leather inlays in other outfits, opening at the back the jacket with straps. Not forgetting the touch of rock and humour in the lost people posters where we see his own photo printed in the back of some jackets! Yohji Yamamoto is always challenging and changing, and never stops asking himself questions, which he expertly replies to successfully on the podium.
