Italian eyewear company Safilo announced on Monday the appointment of Andrea Busato as its new commercial head of Latin America. He will take up the new role on 1 February, and will be based in Miami where the company’s Latin American offices are located.

Andrea Busato has been promoted to commercial head of Latin America - Safilo

Andrea Busato joined Safilo in 2012 as chief financial officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, bringing with him over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, particularly at Diesel and Salvatore Ferragamo. He has also previously worked at Deloitte.

In 2014, Busato was named global sales operations director, and was promoted to the company’s leadership team in 2016 as head of global sales operations.

According to a statement, in his most recent role, Busato led a worldwide team of over 400 people, managing customer service, sales planning, stock depletion and close-out sales, samples management process, commercial events organization, supply chain integration with customers and sales force automation.

“Andrea’s appointment marks another step in the development of our business in Latin America. Specifically, we want to invest in cutting-edge infrastructure to deepen our relationships with our local retail clients. Andrea's mission is to further accelerate the growth of the business as we continue to expand our footprint in the region,” said Luisa Delgado, CEO of Safilo Group.

“With our core brands Carrera and Polaroid leading the growth in the region, and the strength and future potential of the other brands in our portfolio, we are on the right track towards achieving success in Latin America,” added Delgado. The region is becoming a key growth driver for the company, in line with its 2020 strategic plan, she said.

Safilo has currently a distribution network in 40 countries in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and China. In Latin America, the group also operates in countries like Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile, and has recently announced its arrival in Paraguay as well as a new distribution deal in Colombia.

Safilo, which also owns eyewear licences for Dior, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Tommy Hilfiger and others, ended the third quarter of 2017 with revenue of 245.1 million euros.
