Pierre-Yves Roussel to oversee ANDAM Prize's 29th edition

ANDAM, the French National Association for the Development of Fashion Arts, has revealed the name of its new winners’ mentor: Pierre-Yves Roussel, a member of the executive committee of the LVMH group. The announcement coincided with the opening to submissions of the 29th edition of ANDAM's emerging designer competition.

Pierre-Yves Roussel - LVMH

It is the second time that Pierre-Yves Roussel will take on this role, having already overseen the competition in 2012, when the ANDAM Prize went to Julien David. At the time, Pierre-Yves Roussel was CEO of the LVMH group's fashion division, a position he recently ceded to Sidney Toledano.

Roussel succeeds as ANDAM mentor Francesca Bellettini, the CEO of Yves Saint Laurent, who last year awarded the ANDAM prize to Glenn Martens, the Flemish designer leading the Y/Project label since 2013.

The ANDAM competition was set up in 1989 by Nathalie Dufour to support emerging fashion designers, and is backed by French public body DEFI (the Committee for the Development and Promotion of Apparel) and France's Ministry of Culture. The 2018 edition's sponsors also include international creative and production management group OBO, the Première Classe-Tuileries show organised by WSN Développement, Chanel, Chloé, the Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, the Galeries Lafayette group, Hermès, Kering, Longchamp, LVMH, MAC Cosmetics, matchesfashion.com, OTB, Swarovski, Tomorrow London Holdings and Yves Saint Laurent.

In 2018, the ANDAM competition will award four prizes, as it did last year: the grand prize worth €250,000; the creative label prize, which substitutes the first collection prize, worth €100,000; the fashion accessories prize worth €50,000; and the innovation prize, first introduced last year, with a €30,000 endowment.

Altogether, the prize money this year will add up to €430,000. Winners will also benefit from a global mentorship programme offered by the sponsors.
