Philipp Plein brings glam-rock and eighties inspirations to Resort 2019

After Chanel, Prada and Valentino, fashion house Philipp Plein unveiled its Resort 2019 collection in a private villa on the French Riviera, with the Cannes Film Festival in full swing. True to form, the designer showed a sexy collection with glam-rock touches, revisiting various trends from the 1970s and 80s.

Seventies inspirations brought an explosion of glitter and sequins to the runway, including gold-sequined suits, as well as lashings of animal print in all-over looks. On a more tropical note, Philipp Plein finished certain pieces with palm-tree prints, from bomber jackets to denim pants to tops.

Philipp Plein also drew inspiration from the cult 1980s TV show "Dynasty," bringing a glam-rock touch to the collection. There were lots of leather pants, as well as studded denim mini-skirts, while transparent effects gave this Resort 2019 collection a sensual edge.

The German designer featured a capsule collection of luxury eveningwear gowns in this mid-season wardrobe -- perfect for prestigious events and red carpet appearances. Long dresses with seductive slits brought a rock ‘n' roll twist to the capsule.

The fashion world's Cruise show season is now underway. Dior is due to unveil its mid-season offering Friday, May 25 outside Paris in Chantilly, followed by Louis Vuitton and Gucci, May 28 and 30 respectively, both in the South of France.
