Monique Lhuillier will show her line during Paris Couture Week

Published

Monique Lhuillier is the latest in a string of American designers who will be leaving New York Fashion Week to show their collections in Paris. The designer, who is headquartered in Los Angeles, is best known for her evening, bridal and red carpet gowns.

After many seasons showing in New York, Lhuillier will present her Spring 2018 collection during the Paris couture shows in July. The shift in schedule also represents a consolidation of the brand’s resort and spring collections. The brand says moving to Paris will allow the label to better connect with international buyers and editors.

Monique Lhuillier will join American labels Rodarte and Proenza Schouler in showing its spring ready-to-wear collection during the Paris haute couture shows. While the U.S. brands are not officially on the haute couture schedule, both Rodarte and Proenza Schouler have been invited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to show as guest designers at the upcoming edition this July.

“From a creative perspective as a designer, and as a woman of French heritage, Paris is a city with which I have a deep familial connection,” Lhuillier said in a press release. Lhuillier has not said how long she will continue to show in Paris, or if she will return her collection to New York or Los Angeles fashion weeks.

Monique Lhuillier began designing bridal wear in 1996 before developing a following among celebrities for her evening gowns. The label has flagships in New York City and Los Angeles, and is sold in department stores around the world.
