Lagardère Travel Retail promotes Axel Gauthey, eyes Asia growth

Lagardère Travel Retail has promoted Axel Gauthey to Executive Vice-President Business Development, Middle East, Africa & Asia and Senior Advisor Global Accounts, in a bid to strengthen its Asia operations.

The French travel retail firm appointed Gauthey as Executive Vice President Middle East & Africa Development in 2013, with the new job title and regional responsibilities highlighting Lagardère's intentions for growth in Asia.

In the same way Gauthey has been operating his role in the Middle East and Africa, the promotion will see him oversee major projects in Asia, as well as developing new territories, channels and global accounts across all jurisdictions.

Gauthey joined Lagardère Travel Retail in 2010, after serving as Sales Director for Asia, Pacific, Africa and the Middle East for electrical manufacturer Thales for nearly six years in Kuala Lumpur. He graduated from France's ESCE Business School graduate in 1996.
