L'Oréal's Executive Committee joined by CEO of L'Oréal China Stéphane Rinderknech

From March 1, L'Oréal China CEO Stéphane Rinderknech will join the Executive Committee of the international beauty conglomerate, whose sales hit 26.02 billion euros in 2017. Rinderknech's appointment to the Committee comes shortly after the company's Asia-Pacific operations saw the largest growth of any of L'Oréal's regions last year (+12.3%) pushed by Chinese consumers, and especially by the L'Oréal Luxe division in China and Hong Kong.

Stéphane Rinderknech, CEO of L'Oréal China - L'Oréal

"China’s strong growth rate, its digital modernity and e-commerce, the transformation of its channels, its technological progress, its reservoir of talents and the rapid evolution of its consumers play a major role in the Group’s strategy, its development and in its future. The participation of L’Oréal China in the Executive Committee will amplify the speed of reaction of the Group to meet these challenges", stated L'Oréal in a press release.

Having joined L'Oréal's US Travel Retail business in 2001, Stéphane Rinderknech has since occupied a number of different leadership positions in the company's luxury division in Asia, starting with Japan and Korea. He then moved to China where he was appointed head of the country's luxury, then consumer products divisions, before being named CEO of L'Oréal China in 2016. In December 2017, he explained to CNBC: "The growth potential [is] I believe unlimited in China because of this rise of [the] middle class".
