Arket, H&M Group’s new fashion brand and the 8th to join its portfolio, has confirmed plans to open a store in Stockholm in 2018 to join further launches in London, Brussels, Copenhagen and Munich, announced the brand in a release.

The brand’s inaugural store will open this autumn on London’s Regent Street, coinciding with the launch of arket.com in 18 European countries.

Arket, meaning ‘sheet of paper’ in Swedish, references the Nordic tradition of functional, long-lasting design and symbolises the blank sheet, a sense of optimism and possibility, said Ulrika Bernhardtz, creative director.

The new Stockholm store will be located in the heart of the city’s shopping district Biblioteksgatan with the opening planned for the spring of 2018. Swedish shoppers will be also able to purchase from the new brand from the autumn, said managing director Lars Axelsson.

The Swedish clothing group, a rival to Inditex group, said Arket is being launched “to democratise quality through widely accessible, well-made, durable products designed to be used and loved for a long time.”

The brand will sell men’s, women’s and children’s collections alongside homewares. This autumn, the first Arket store will open its doors on Regent Street, London and will be followed by further store openings in Brussels, Copenhagen and Munich.

“We have currently seven brands – H&M, COS, & Other Stories, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday and H&M Home
We have seven brands today – H&M, COS, & Other Stories, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday and H&M Home – and soon it will be time for our next exciting launch, Arket," said Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of the H&M Group.

The company has also said Arket stores will include a café where location permits. The concept will be based on the New Nordic Kitchen and its vision of quality ingredients and healthy living.
