Diesel unveils "Make Love Not Walls" campaign video

Music video director David LaChapelle has collaborated with clothing brand Diesel in creating a new campaign video, "Make Love Not Walls."

“At Diesel, we have a strong position against hate and more than ever we want the world to know that, to use our voice for good, love and togetherness is crucial in creating a society we all want to live in, and the future we all deserve,” said artistic director Nicola Formichetti in a statement, revealing that the campaign had been in the works since mid-2016. "The brand has been commenting on society and culture since the early Nineties."

The brand is the latest in a line of designers and fashion organisations to use its clout in the industry to make a politically-charged statement on solidarity and equality, joining the ranks of Nike, Reebok, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Jeremy Scott the CFDA, Tory Burch, Mara Hoffman, and Married to the Mob.

Conversely, Under Armour has been under fire in recent weeks, with its own brand ambassadors speaking out against it after CEO Kevin Plank praised Trump policy in a television interview.

David LaChapelle has previously worked with a host of musicians including Florence + The Machine, Hozier, Brittany Spears, Christina Aguiliera, Elton John and Moby as well as Armani, MAC Cosmetics and other fashion brands; tattooed dancer Sergei Poulinin returns from the Hozier video for this Diesel production.
