Avon hires Miguel Fernandez as Global President

Avon on Tuesday announced the appointment of Miguel Fernandez as Global President, effective August 14, 2017. He succeeds John Higson, who is retiring in September from his role as EVP, Chief Commercial Officer after 32 years with Avon.
 

Fernandez will bring to the cosmetics company 20 years of operating experience, including international experience and a track record in the direct selling industry. As Group President, he will be responsible for commercial business operations. In addition, he will be based at Avon’s London headquarters, and he will report directly to CEO Sheri McCoy.
 
The Monterrey Institute of Technology graduate joins Avon from Herbalife, where he spent 10 years of his career and most recently served as EVP and Managing Director for the Americas and Worldwide Member Operations. He also served as SVP and Managing Director of Mexico and VP Finance & Distributor Operations at Herbalife, and served at Microsoft, Proctor & Gamble, JPMorgan Chase and OCC Mundial.

John Higson joined Avon UK in 1985 as a management associate, and he went on to serve as Division Manager, Sales Planner, Regional Director, and Avon Hungary General Manager in 1993. Higson also held executive roles at Avon for regions such as the Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Central & Eastern Europe.
